Get Ready for OSHA’s Upcoming Recordkeeping and Reporting Changes
It’s almost here! The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced an amended occupational injury and wellness recordkeeping regulation earlier this year to require certain US employers to electronically submit their information, and it’s about to go into effect.
Beginning January 1, many workplaces will be required to adhere to this change. Is your business affected? The list of designated high risk industries can be found here. OSHA has provided another option in the ITA Coverage Application to help you determine if you meet the requirement.
To get ready for next month’s new requirements, employers should review and update their current illness and injury recordkeeping processes, assess the number of employees at jobsite locations, and make sure they’re set up to submit information through the Injury Tracking Application (ITA).
Important Dates:
The ITA will begin accepting 2023 injury and illness data on January 2, 2024. The due date for employers is March 2, 2024.
Please note that OSHA’s submission requirement is annual, meaning the deadline for the previous year’s data will be on March 2 of every subsequent year.
